The United States and Russia have signed a landmark agreement on nuclear energy cooperation.
The proposal outlines a two-decade plan in developing reactors and storing and shipping uranium and nuclear materials. The deal was signed the day before Dmitry Medvedev succeeds Vladimir Putin as Russian president. Cooperation on nuclear issues between Russia and the US had cooled in recent years because of disagreements over how to handle Iran's perceived nuclear threat. Moscow began delivering enriched uranium fuel to Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant last December.
