Clashes in Beirut between the Hezbollah-led opposition and pro-government supporters are continuing for a second day.
The unrest began on Wednesday after opposition supporters blockaded the city centre and airport routes as part of a strike for wage increases. Earlier on Thursday Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah called a recent crackdown on its activities by the Lebanese government a declaration of war. Lebanon, which has been without a head of state for five months because of the internal power struggle between Prime Minister Fouad Siniora's government and the pro-Syrian opposition, is experiencing its worst political crisis since the civil war.
