German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called for a new beginning in relations with Russia at the start of a five-day trip there.
Opening an economic forum in Yekaterinburg, he said Germany and Russia must put a halt to the mentality of the Cold War. Steinmeier also alluded to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's recent inauguration speech by calling for a more open and democratic Russian society. Steinmeier said that was the most successful way to a modern Russia.
