Grebenicek said he informed current party head Vojtech Filip of his decision in writing. Grebenicek was nominated for chairman by a KSCM regional branch.

The congress will be held in Hradec Kralove, east Bohemia, on May 17-18. Apart from the party leader, it will also elect five deputy chairpersons.
