Morgan Tsvangirai and the Movement for Democratic Change had to give up their claims to power and recognise his victory in last week's presidential run-off. He made the comments upon returning from an African Union summit in Egypt. There, African leaders passed a resolution for Zimbabwe to form a national unity government. Mugabe has been widely condemned both inside and outside Africa after winning an uncontested election. Tsvangirai had withdrawn from it following attacks on his supporters.
