Freed Colombian hostage Ingrid Betancourt and members of her family are expected to arrive in Paris this afternoon.
The 46-year-old who holds both Colombian and French citizenship will be welcomed by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Betancourt and 14 other hostages were rescued two days ago by Colombian army commandos posing as FARC guerrillas. She spent six years in captivity during which she fell seriously ill and also suffered torture. Before leaving the Colombian capital Bogota for Paris, the former presidential candidate vowed to work tirelessly for the freedom of some 700 people still believed to be detained by the FARC.
