06.07.2008 - Czech anti-trust office head-Babis meeting not secret - press
The meeting was reported by the public Czech Television (CT) on Saturday.
CT said in its report the secret meeting challenges Pecina's impartiality.
Pecina was camera recorded during a private meeting with businessman Babis in a car showroom in Prague at a time when UOHS is checking Babis's application for further enlargement of his company Agrofert.

CT said that under law, the UOHS chairman must not behave so as to violate the independence and impartiality of the office, and that the same rules apply to all his subordinates.
CT said that according to lawyers addressed, the meeting minimally poses an ethical proble.
Pecina did not deny his meeting with Babis for CT, but on the contrary, he said they meet several times.
Chalupa wrote there is no reason for the UOHS chairman not to be able to meet anyone outside his office.
"Meetings in Prague are held almost exlusively in public places because the chairman considers this way of communication oree transparent," Chalupa wrote in the press release.
He wrote that Pecina is going to hold similar meetings in the future as well, and that he considers the polemic about the unethical character of such meetings absurd.
