Konicek has been trying for months to find out the exact technical data of the radar station. He has written three times to Defence Minister Vlasta Parkanova (the Christian Democrats, KDU-CSL), but he has been invariably told the data are secret. "At present, the technical parameters of the U.S. radar are not fully known and the question of the number of the persons to be permanently present in the relevant area has not yet been settled," Bursik wrote. "As a result, neither technological limits nor their impact on the environment can be determined," he added. The government says the radar base is environmentally safe. Tyden.cz, the Internet version of the Czech weekly Tyden, writes that Bursik's statement only refers to the environmental impact, but can be also related to the governmental analysis of the health risks. None of its authors are on the list of the persons who are allowed to see the classified technological data, it adds.
