Rice called her Monday talks with her Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski in Washington constructive. Rice said she had told Sikorski what could be done. As some issues were yet to be resolved, it could not be said with certainty what would be the next steps, but the meeting was constructive, she said. After his talks with Rice, Sikorski said he and Rice had cleared their positions on the affair, but the talks brought no breakthrough and Rice will not arrive to Poland this week. Rice voiced the hope that the missile base treaty between the USA and Poland could be completed by the end of July. Rice, who will sign the treaty on the U.S.

Republic later today, landed in Prague shortly after 10:00 a.m. Rice and her Czech counterpart Karel Schwarzenberg will sign the treaty on the construction of the radar base, a part of the U.S. anti-missile system, on Czech soil. Rice's visit to Poland has not been fully ruled out by Polish and U.S. foreign ministries's spokesmen Piotr Paszkowski and Sean McCormack.
