Hamas and Western officials say Middle East envoy Tony Blair plans to visit the Gaza strip this week.
The trip would be the highest level visit to Gaza by a western official since Hamas seized control of the territory in a bloody power struggle with rivals Fatah in June last year. Blair is expected to visit a sewage treatment plant in the territory's north. Gaza violence leaves at least eight Hamas militants dead ... to its blockade of Gaza and allow in spare parts to repair the facility. Last year five Palestinians died in a wave of raw sewage from the plant. Blair's planned visit comes a month into a shaky ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
