30.07.2008 - Karadzic arrives in the Hague

The former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has reportedly arrived in the Netherlands on his way to the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague.

The war crimes tribunal had pushed for his extradition since his arrest in Belgrade on July 21. The announcement of his transfer comes just hours after Serbian riot police clashed with several hundred Karadzic supporters in the capital. 45 people were injured in the violence that occured on the sidelines of a rally of 15,000 Serb nationalists who were demonstrating against his planned extradition. Karadzic has been twice indicted for genocide for the siege of Sarajevo and Karadzic supporters mass in Belgrade ...
