German public broadcaster ARD has shut its Gaza bureau, to protest the arrest of one of its cameramen in the Hamas controlled Palestinian territory.
The ARD said it had not heard from Sawah Abu Seif since his arrest on Saturday, but feared for his health and believed he had been tortured. Abu Seif was among dozens of people arrested after an explosion which killed five Hamas militants and a girl. Hamas accuses the cameraman of belonging to its rivals Fatah, and blames them for the blast. Fatah, which was ousted from Gaza last year, denies responsibility for the attack.
