A stampede during a religious festival in northern India has killed over 145 people.
Many of those who died are reported to be women and children. Tens of thousands of worshippers had gathered at the temple in Bilaspur district to pray to a Hindu goddess during an annual festival. Officials said that more than 3,000 people were trying to get into the temple at the same time when part of an iron railing broke, causing the stampede.
