The Rwandan government has unveiled a report which accuses senior French officials of involvement in the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
The 500 page report says France's then government assisted Hutu extremists exterminate some 800,000 minority Tutsis and moderate opponents by providing diplomatic, military and logistical support. The Rwandan Justice Ministry also said that French personnel were at times directly involved in the killings during operation Turquoise, a UN mandated mission to Rwanda between June and August of 1994. The report is the outcome of a two year government inquiry into the role of France during the genocide. France did not comment on the report, but referred to its position that the inquiry lacked legitimacy and impartiality.
