A strike by members of the German pilots' union, Cockpit has ended. German air carrier Lufthansa says the 36-hour-long work stoppage forced it to cancel more than 100 flights operated by its regional subsidiary, CityLine.
The pilots walked off the job to back up their demands for higher pay. Lufthansa chairman Wolfgang Mayrhuber has called on Cockpit to return to the negotiating table, however, he appears to have rejected the union's demands. He told a German newspaper that CityLine pilots already earned as much as 25 percent more than pilots with other regional air carriers.
