Two German nationals who were taken hostage from their yacht off the Yemeni coast at the end of June have been freed.
Local elders said the two Germans were released on Friday in Bossaso in the semi-autonomous Puntland. The elders said that a ransom had been paid for their release. The German Foreign Ministry in Berlin confirmed their release but did not comment on whether any ransom had been paid.
