DW-WORLD: Germany, EU Step Up Efforts to Help End Caucasian War German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday urgently called for an "immediate and unconditional" ceasefire in the escalating war between Russia and Georgia as Germany's foreign minister engaged in phone diplomacy.
