German boss lauds Podolski double ... express train going from Cracow to Prague claimed seven victims and about seventy people were injured. The train crashed into a part of a collapsing bridge that was under construction. The crash threw the engine and a few carriages aside. Four women, including a Pole, and two men died on the spot, and another man, of Ukrainian ethnicity, died later in a hospital. Of those injured 33 were staying in six north Moravian hospitals this morning. The state of at least one of the patients is reportedly critical. About four patients are to be released for home care today. The Czech Railways (CD) company resumed operation on the otherwise busy railway in Studenka early this morning, spokesman Ondrej Kubala told CTK. Only one pair of rails is in operation for now. The CD originally expected the track to be out of operation for up to five days. The EuroCity express trains going from Prague to Poland and from Austria to Poland via the Czech Republic, as well as the InterCity trains shuttling between Prague and North Moravia, that were diverted after the accident, have now resumed their original route via Studenka. The only type of train not to operate along the section for the time being is the high-speed Pendolino, as it can hardly do with a diesel engine as is provisionally required until the aftermath of the disaster is completely removed. The derailed engine and part of the collapsed bridge still remain on the spot of the accident. The police team of investigators comprises 20 people. Another 12 policemen are patrolling along the track section to prevent unauthorised persons' entry. There remain lots of wreckages on the site of the tragedy, Salkova Michalkova said. From Monday, those injured and the victims' relatives can turn to the CD General Directorate in Prague and apply for compensation.
