Ebadi calls on media to foster peace ... that he had fled into exile in London, Thaksin issued a statement read out on Thai television, saying he could not return to clear his name after a 2006 coup because he was receiving unfair treatment in Thailand's courts. Thaksin is on bail, facing a string of trials at Thailand's Supreme Court. Thaksin has always denied any wrongdoing and maintains the charges are politically motivated.
