Latest news - 01-06-2008 ... corps' officers is not systemic as the pay of only some of them has increased this year. The unions want the government to remove the mistake. Under the valid regulations from 2007, security officers' wages are increased by 1.5 percent every year. Stepanek said the increase concerns only the bonuses and special remunerations but not the base pay. The unions want new regulations to be introduced as of 2009 which would secure a regular increase in the officers' base pay. Moreover, the latest increase has been insufficient as it remains far below the inflation level, Stepanek said. He previously said the current pay system does not motivate policemen to seek career advancement. It may even contribute to experienced officers' departure from the police, Stepanek said. He said the unions had discussed their demand with Langer in July, but with no success.
