The Express India server reported that the proceedings with the Czechs, Emil Kucera and Petr Svacha, would last maximally five days since they are foreigners. If found guilty, they face up to seven years in prison under Indian law. The Czech Aktualne.cz server wrote that Svacha and Kucera had been informed about the charges by the word of mouth.

Svacha and Kucera need not report to the Indian police twice a week, which they had to after their release from custody. Kucera, 52, and Svacha, 51, were detained close to the Singalila National Park, the Bangla state, on June 23 because they did not have any official permit to collect insects. The Czechs deny any guilt. They insist on that they were not collecting insects in Singalila and they say they did not even enter the park. Svacha is a renowned scientist from the Entomological Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Kucera has published a number of works on the basis of which some 100 new species of insect have been identified. The Czech scientists have also been backed by the international scientific community. A petition with more than 600 signatures, mostly by scientists, demanding the Czechs' release has been addressed to the Indian prime minister.
