US swimming sensation Michael Phelps has equalled Mark Spitz's record of seven Olympic gold medals in one games after winning the 100-meter butterfly.
Phelps won by just a fraction of second in his first race of the Beijing Games in which he didn't set a world record. That honour went to Britain's Rebecca Adlington, who won the Olympic Games women's 800m freestyle gold medal in a new world record time. It was here second gold medal of the games.
