A passenger plane has crashed during take-off at Madrid airport. Spanish newspaper El Pais is reporting that 20 people were killed when the plane swerved off the runway.
The Spanish national airport authority said the Spanair jet was bound for Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. At least 160 passengers were on board at the time.
