There is report this hour that Russia is planning to cut all ties with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
The Norwegian defence ministry has issued a statement saying that the country's embassy in Moscow was informed of the move by the Russian defence ministry. The statement said that Moscow was planning to freeze all military co-operation with NATO and its 26 member countries. The story has not been confirmed by Moscow and officials at NATO headquarters in Brussels said they have not been informed of any such move. This comes a day after NATO foreign ministers suspended formal contacts with Russia in response to its recent military activities in Georgia.
