A Sudanese passenger aircraft with an estimated 95 passengers on board has been hijacked shortly after take-off from Nyala in Darfur province.
News agencies report the Sunair Boeing 737 which was on its way to Khartoum has landed in Kufra in southern Libya after being refused landing permission in Cairo, Egypt. The broadcaster al-Arabiya said the hijacker, believed to be a Sudanese national, had initially ordered the pilot to fly to France. Three senior members of the former Sudan Liberation Movement movement are on board the plane.
