Czech opposition criticises ODS deputy Morava ...
Czech ODS "rebellious" deputies reject party's criticism ... Mlada fronta Dnes (MfD) reported earlier this week that Morava tried to collect discrediting information about various deputies regardless of their party membership and planned to abuse the material to blackmail them. Tlusty nodded to a plan of a TV Nova reporter and let Nova produce fake compromising photographs of himself.
The fake photographs were then offered to politicians and lobbyists, including Morava, who allegedly tried to gather sensitive information on his colleagues. On Friday, Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek (ODS) said the media and Tlusty are to blame for the scandal, while he considered Morava rather a victim. He said he believed Tlusty, a rebel among the Civic Democrats, initiated the whole case. Topolanek called on Tlusty to leave the lower house over the scandal, which Tlusty rejected. Topolanek said Morava should consider his resignation, too. MfD wrote that Morava had asked the fake detectives for pictures of Zubova's daughter. He wanted to use the pictures to discourage Zubova from voting against the coalition, the paper said. Tlusty said today Topolanek "sides with injustice, trying to stand up on behalf of the man (Morava), who actually prepared the crime of blackmail." Tlusty said he had lost all trust in Topolanek. He said he would "think it twice" on how to vote if Topolanek's cabinet asked the Chamber of Deputies for confidence. It was unacceptable for the ODS to continue with the methods introduced in it by Topolanek, Tlusty said. "He denies our programme and he is surrounded by the people who take part in such mafia-like practices," Tlusty said. Tlusty stressed that his role in the case was that of an "agent waiting for a deviant." He said that following an agreement with a Nova reporter he had compromising photos of himself made, whereupon the reporters offered them to lobbyists and politicians including Morava. On Saturday, the ODS distanced itself from both deputies and asked them to give up their mandate in the Chamber of Deputies. Tlusty repeated he saw no reason to resign and he would not do so. If anything, those who knew about Morava's activities should step down such as Tluchor, he added.
