Kiefer out of Wimbledon ... of the executive of Germany's Social Democrats have nominated former Deputy Chancellor Franz Müntefering as the party's new chairman.
At a meeting in Berlin, they also agreed to hold a special party congress on October 18, at which Müntefering is to be elected as leader. In addition to being foreign minister, Steinmeier is also deputy chancellor in the grand-coalition government.
