Serbia's parliament has overwhelmingly voted in favour of a key European Union accord in a move that marks a significant step towards its EU membership.
The signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement confirms Serbia's commitment to certain reforms, including extraditing wanted war criminals to the international court in The Hague. All 27 EU states need to ratify the membership treaty. Also on Tuesday the parliament ratified an energy pact with Russia which will give Russia's Gazprom control over Serbia's oil monopoly.
