The outgoing leader of Germany's centre-left Social democrats, Kurt Beck, has accused party colleagues of deliberately undermining his authority by consciously feeding the media false information. Speaking publically for the first time since resigning on Sunday, Beck said he had expected to go into next year's federal elections with himself as party chairman, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeir as candidate for chancellor and Franz Muentefering as campaign leader.
