Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and main opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai say they have made progress towards a power-sharing deal.
Speaking to reporters in Harare, Tsvangirai said that nothing had been concluded yet but that he was hopeful that all outstanding issues could be addressed when talks continue on Wednesday. Power-sharing talks involving Mugabe's ruling ZANU-PF, Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change and a smaller MDC splinter faction under Arthur Mutambara resumed in Harare on Monday after being adjourned for more than two weeks. A deal to form an all-inclusive government would end two months of wrangling following disputed elections that were marred by violence against opposition supporters and saw the incumbent Mugabe return to power.
