Suspected Islamist militants have killed at least 14 people and wounded many others in an attack on a mosque in north-western Pakistan.
Local officials said the attackers first lobbed grenades into the mosque and then opened fire on the worshippers with machine guns. The death toll is expected to rise. Muslims are observing the fasting month of Ramadan, and the assailants struck during evening prayers. Militancy has spread across the restive north-west of the country in recent months.
