Poland, a former Soviet era ally of Russia, has angered Moscow by agreeing to host 10 interceptor rockets, which the US claims are needed to protect the West from attacks by so called "rogue states." Lavrov's visit to Poland is his first trip to a European Union country since Russia's war with Georgia last month, which soured relations between Moscow and the West. In separate comments, Lavrov denied that the Georgian separatist region of South Ossetia intended to join the Russian Federation.
