France's transportation minister reports firefighters are still battling a blaze that broke out on Thursday in the Channel Tunnel connecting Britain and France.
Dominique Bussereau says train traffic beneath the English Channel remains suspended. He added that investigators believe the blaze in the north tunnel was caused by an accident and that it is now under control. Eurotunnel chairman Jacques Gounon says that rail travel in the south tunnel could resume later on Friday. The fire was discovered about 10 kilometres from the French coast on a train transporting trucks from England to France. 14 people were injured in the incident, six of them suffering from smoke inhalation.
