The US state of Texas is bracing for Hurricane Ike, which is expected to make landfall early on Saturday.
Forecasters say Ike will likely hit the oil-rich northeast Texas coast near Galveston as a category two storm. Officials have urged residents of the country's fourth largest city, Houston, not to flock to the leave the city en masse, and create a gridlock. People in only a few targeted districts have been told to leave.
