Germany rejects PKK demands for hostages ... so-called VW Law be rescinded. The legislation, which was passed in 1960, effectively protects Europe's biggest carmaker from a hostile takeover by giving the state of Lower Saxony a veto over major company decisions.
The European Court of Justice ruled one year ago that the legislation violates EU competition rules. The German parliament responded by amending the law to take the EU objections into account. However the court wasn't satisfied by the changes and has threatened to revisit the case.
