The Channel Tunnel is slowing resuming services two days after a truck blaze severely damaged one of the two tubes between France and Britain.
Operator Eurotunnel says, however, car shuttle services remain suspended. Passenger traffic is limited to the Chunnel's south tube. Eurotunnel says it will need weeks to repair the damaged north tube. A fire broke out on a truck on Thursday afternoon and quickly spread to other vehicles on the train. 27 lorries were destroyed in the blaze. Britain's travel turmoil was exacerbated on Friday by the collapse of the XL travel company. Britain's Civil Aviation Authority has taken on the task of getting 50,000 of XL's stranded passengers back home.
