A roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan's Ghazni province has killed six children as they were playing on a bridge.
Elsewhere in the same region, a Taliban ambush has left seven policemen dead. Earlier, two Afghan doctors working for the United Nations and their driver were killed in a car bomb attack on a UN vehicle at Spin Boldak in southeastern Afghanistan. In the eastern province of Khost, an Afghan engineer working for the German technical assistance agency GTZ has been abducted in a raid on a vocational school. The provincial governor, Arsala Jamal, called the assailants criminals. The hotage-takers injured a second engineer and stole mobile phones and money in the attack.
