Zimbabwe's new political partners are to start talks to allocate cabinet posts following the signing of a historic power-sharing deal between former arch rivals President Robert Mugabe and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai on Monday.
Mugabe is to remain President while Tsvangirai becomes Prime Minister. However, the European Union says that EU sanctions will stay in place until democracy and the rule of law is restored although humanitarian aid will continue. In spite of the power-sharing deal hundreds of Zimbabweans are seeking asylum at the South African border.
