This follows an accusation by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev who said NATO had shown itself unable to provide security in Europe. At a meeting of defence ministers of the 26 NATO nations in London, alliance secretary general Jaap de Hoop Scheffer pledged "full solidarity" with Georgia, an ex-Soviet republic.
