20.09.2008 - North Korea says to restart nuclear plant

North Korea is moving towards restarting its nuclear reactor.

North Korea's official news agency quoted on Friday a foreign ministry spokesman as saying it had begun work to rebuild the Yongbyon nuclear plant. Pyongyang said the United States has failed to fulfil its obligations in a six-country nuclear disarmament deal. Washington reacted quickly after the announcement. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said North Korea was getting closer to reviving Yongbyon but urged them not to do so.
