The number of infants hospitalised in China's tainted milk formula affair has reached nearly 13,000, twice the total previously announced.
The health ministry says that almost 40,000 more children have been treated and released at outpatient clinics. So far four infants have died and 104 are seriously ill from drinking formula prepared with the toxic substance melamine. Regular dairy and milk products have also been contaminated in the scandal.
